Heinz-Harald Frentzen will probably not race at the Hungarian Grand Prix in two weeks time according to his manager Monte Field. Frentzen requested to be released from his contract with the Arrows F1 team, due to the ongoing problems within the Leafield squad, but has yet to sign a deal with a new team.
Asked if Frentzen would take part in the Hungarian GP, Field said: "It's probably less likely to happen (that Frentzen will race). Something came up for us and it was just best that we ended our association with Arrows. I cannot say at the moment but we do intend to do everything we can to ensure he will drive at some time."
Frentzen was sad to leave Arrows but was concerned for his future in the team. Shareholders Morgan Grenfell are preventing any investment in the team until their shares have been sold. "There is not much more we could have done for Arrows," Field said. "It is something that we can't have much to do with."
At the French Grand Prix the Arrows drivers were only allowed to do a couple of laps in qualifying and intentionally failed to set a time within the 107%. Although things returned to normal in Germany at the last race, the situation was too unstable. "What happened in Magny-Cours had nothing to do with what the racing drivers could do," Field commented. "We have certain understandings with what is going on at Arrows, but it is just time to focus on what is best for Heinz-Harald."
