Italian GP BAR race notes

Jacques Villeneuve:
"I don't really know what happened other than the car just stopped. It's a real shame because today was the last realistic opportunity we had for the rest of this season to get a podium finish. In the remaining three races, even if the car goes well, the best result we can aim for is fifth as long as the McLarens and Ferraris all finish."

Ricardo Zonta:
"I started the race with a light fuel load in the hope that I would be able to overtake a number of cars in the opening laps of the race, but then when the Safety Car came out, we lost the opportunity. I was on a two-stop strategy today, but when de la Rosa's car hit me on the first lap and punctured a tyre, I had no choice but to come in for an extra stop. If it hadn't been for that, I would have finished right in front of Verstappen in the race."

Craig Pollock:
"Ricardo had an absolutely brilliant race today. The strategy was correct and the car was good. The work that was carried out at the factory to get both cars running in the positions they were in today is fantastic, but we have to say that what we saw from Ricardo demonstrates just what he is capable of. We wish him all the best at his next team and hope that he shows them what he can do. Jacques was in a points-scoring position today and also on the right pit-stop strategy for his starting position. It's just a great shame that he wasn't able to capitalise on what was likely to be our best opportunity for a podium finish this season."

Takefumi Hosaka:
"Although Ricardo did a fantastic job to finish sixth, we are obviously a little disappointed with today's result. Both drivers did very well to survive the first-lap incident and we were on course for a good result. It was a great shame that Jacques had to retire, probably as the result of an electrical problem, but we will not know for sure until we are back at the factory."
