Italian GP Friday Jordan notes

An encouraging start for Jarno Trulli and steady progress for Heinz-Harald Frentzen summed up Jordan Grand Prix's efforts at the end of the first day of practice for Sunday's Italian Grand Prix. 'Everything went well,' said Trulli. 'We have done the job as planned, testing different things and getting positive results. The car is nicely balanced, just as good as it was in the test we had here last week. The track has improved a bit since then, which explains the faster times. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied.' Frentzen concentrated on running with a race set-up and a full fuel load.

'I stayed on race fuel all day and we were fine-tuning those settings,' said Heinz-Harald. 'We learned a lot during the test and those findings have paid off. So far so good but now we have to see what we can do during qualifying tomorrow.'

Barrichello was fastest all day, the Brazilian saying his Ferrari was working well. Both McLaren drivers had problems as Mika Hakkinen, fourth fastest, lost most of the morning session with clutch trouble and David Coulthard, fifth fastest, spun off early in the second session.
