Jaguar Barcelona test notes 2002-09-20

Antonio Pizzonia rounded off a productive test session for the Jaguar Racing team on Friday by setting the second quickest lap time of the morning when the stopped running at 2.00pm CET.

The Brazilian, who gained his first outing for the team yesterday, posted a quickest mark of 1m18.642s to finish ahead of Williams test driver Marc Gene. The mark was nearly a second quicker than the time he posted yesterday.

"We made a new seat last night and I was much more comfortable," said Pizzonia. "I was sitting so low yesterday, at least today I can see over the steering wheel! I only managed half a day due to a problem with the car but it was a good day."

Pizzonia once again worked on evaluating different tyre compounds in preparation for Indianapolis and the team heads to America in a confident frame of mind after a productive session.

"I had two new sets of tyres. I used the first to get used to the car and pushed much harder on the second set," added the F3000 star. "I also tried a few things on the aero side and this made the car much better. I'm very pleased considering how little time I've had. Overall I think I did a good job. The car is very different [to the Williams he has tested all season]. As for the future, I don't know."

McLaren's David Coulthard was quickest of all when Jaguar Racing shut up shop, the other three teams continuing on this afternoon.
