Following the launch of the Jaguar R5 on Sunday, the team was back down to testing duties two days later to participate in a three-day test session at the Circuit de Catalunya from Tuesday through Thursday. Jaguar Racing took a total of three cars with them, two R4 interims carrying developmental components and one R5.

Unfortunately, the team suffered a suspension problem with one R4 on Tuesday, compromising the evaluation programme between the R4 and the R5. The team was able to rectify the suspension problem on Wednesday, which is why Mark Webber unable to undertake any testing as planned.

Nonetheless, the team managed to conduct its planned programme of systems checks and general set-up work without completing any performance testing of any substance.

"As you would expect from a brand new car, we had a list of small areas with which to work on," commented Jaguar Racing's head of Formula One communications, Nav Sidhu. "Like any new car straight out of the box we have certain areas with which to work on and we are confident of understanding them."

BAR's Jenson Button set a new Circuit de Catalunya lap record on Thursday, becoming the first man to lap the revised layout in under 75 seconds.

The Jordan team enjoyed a less productive time of things, with F1 testing debutants Timo Glock and Bas Leinders both

Glock, who finished fifth at the Formula 3 Euro Series, went off the track at the main straight on Tuesday and Leinders suffered an off-track excursion the straight just before "la Caixa" corner during his installation lap on Wednesday.
