Jaguar remains motivated

Despite the recent announcement of Ford's withdrawal from Formula One, the Jaguar Racing team is as motivated as ever to score points.

"We're still a point ahead of Toyota and despite the recent announcement, I wouldn't say we're under any more pressure than we have been all season," said Jaguar's race team manager, Dave Stubbs.

"Our aim has always been to do the best that we can. My guys on the race team are still very motivated and it hasn't affected the way they perform or the way the engineers or the drivers perform. We are out there to do a good job this weekend and we'll be targeting a points finish."

As far as the challenges of the notoriously tricky Suzuka are concerned, Stubbs cites previous experience of the circuit as a huge advantage for drivers.

"It's a medium to high downforce circuit, which is technically very difficult, and one you're either good or you're not! In the past, a lot of the guys who have driven there in F3000 or other formulae have shone in grands prix there," added Stubbs.

"When we were there last year, Justin (Wilson) went out there early and drove a road car for a few laps to learn the circuit. Whilst you're not doing the same speeds and your lines are different, it was an advantage for him going there and knowing the circuit a little bit before he went there for the race. It will be a similar advantage for Christian this year."
