Pedro tested modifications to the R3's rear suspension
Pedro de la Rosa finished second on the time sheets as Jaguar Racing continued its ongoing modifications to the R3 at Valencia on Friday.

The Spaniard jumped to the top of the time sheets in the morning session before being edged out by Juan Pablo Montoya's Williams by the close of play.

De la Rosa, who finished with a quickest time of 1m13.210s, expressed satisfaction with a trouble free day of working on the set up of the new R3. The team also made use of the session to make a series of minor modifications to the rear suspension and so far the package is reported to be working well.

The Williams duo of Antonio Pizzonia and Ralf Schumacher finished third and fourth fastest respectively ahead of Arrows new boy Heinz Harald Frentzen who had another eventful day after signing for the team on Thursday.

The German was lucky to escape unscathed after the rear wing of his Arrows A23 left the chassis on two separate occasions at the 195 mph approach to turn one. Alex Yoong and Anthony Davidson also experienced offs in another incident filled session at the Valencia circuit.

Jaguar Racing returns to the Valencia circuit next week for a three day test session starting on Tuesday 12 February. The team is expected to run a completely new floor and modified suspension on the R3, with Eddie Irvine set to resume testing duties.
