NTT Communications, the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group headquartered in Japan, will become Technology Partner to the British Formula 1 team McLaren-Honda under the multi-year agreement.

Tetsuya Shoji, President and CEO, NTT Communications said: “I am thrilled that NTT Communications is now a Technology Partner for McLaren-Honda, a symbol of innovation for motorsport fans worldwide.

“With innovation a part of the DNA of both companies, this partnership will help McLaren-Honda transform how it manages the data generated during Formula 1 races and transcend established boundaries in motorsports racing,” he added.

JMI worked in partnership with NTT and provided strategic guidance on how motorsport could help drive their business forward and, after a full consultative process, helped broker the deal with McLaren-Honda.

“JMI provided guidance on why Formula 1, and specifically McLaren with its rich and relevant technology and innovation story, could provide a platform for NTT to demonstrate their products and services and help them continue to reach out to a global market.” said Matthew Marsh, Senior Vice President, Asia.

“McLaren-Honda align on a number of levels to create a great synergy for NTT to enter the sport, as the second most successful team in history with innovation at its core. Both NTT and McLaren-Honda understand the importance of driving innovative technology for competitive gain.”

The collaboration will showcase the NTT Communications products and service offering on a global platform while providing the McLaren-Honda team with a strong opportunity to deliver on its technology transformation strategy.

NTT Communications will provide network, cloud, data connectivity and other innovations to meet McLaren’s need for an IT communications platform that delivers optimum performance to support its Formula 1 race team.
