Jordan Announces 1998 Drivers

BENSON & HEDGES JORDAN ANNOUNCES HILL AND FRENTZEN

Following its spectacular 1-2 finish in Spa, the Benson and Hedges Jordan team today announces the drivers who will challenge for the Silverstone based team in the 1999 Formula One World Championship. Damon Hill will stay with Jordan for a second season and will be joined by Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who, ironically replaced the 1996 World Champion at Williams last year. This gives Jordan Grand Prix its most experienced driver line-up in its history. Team owner Jordan said: Obviously I am delighted that Damon will be with us with what we both believe will be a realistic opportunity for him to add a second world title to his 22 Grand Prix victories. The addition of Heinz-Harald, already a Grand Prix winner (Imola 1997) illustrates just how serious Benson & Hedges Jordan is about contesting the World Championship. This is without doubt our strongest-ever driver pairing and while we still have plenty to achieve in 1998, I am already looking forward to 1999." Giving further notice of Jordan Grand Prixs determination to build on its historic One-Two result in Spa, Eddie Jordan also announced that Trevor Foster has been appointed joint Managing Director with responsibility for all matters relating to the company with the exception of the financial and commercial areas.
