Jordan Barcelona Monday test notes 2002-02-11

Marcel Lasée joined Takuma Sato and the Jordan Honda team today to commence a three-day test at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya in mostly warm, dry and sunny conditions.

Fog caused track running to begin an hour and a half late, however Sato was able to complete 62 laps and was third quickest with his lap time of 1:21.59. He spent a productive day working on engine mapping and aerodynamic development.

Lasée drove the second EJ12 while Fisichella spent an extra day resting, following an accident during testing at Valencia last week, when he bruised his knee. Lasée completed 60 laps and devoted his efforts to general set-up, aerodynamic work, brake testing and tyre testing for Bridgestone. The team valued his contribution, particularly as it was his first drive in the EJ12 and he was invited to join the test at quite short notice.

Fisichella hopes to join Sato tomorrow to continue the team’s programme.
