NEW TITLE SPONSOR FOR JORDAN The Total Jordan-Peugeot Formula One team is to be sponsored by Benson and Hedges. The sponsorship begins with the first race of the 1996 season in Melbourne on Sunday March 10th. Benson and Hedges will feature prominently on the now all-gold cars. The team's two drivers, Martin Brundle and Rubens Barrichello, will also carry the distinctive Benson and Hedges livery. Team owner Eddie Jordan said he was delighted with the new sponsorship. ``The reputation of Benson and Hedges is first class. It carries out its sponsorship with a great deal of pro- fessionalism and I know that our partnership will carry all the same hallmarks,'' he said. ``It is a major breakthrough for us to secure a new title sponsor and, together with our partners Peugeot and Total, I am looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship. This is the first part of the jigsaw to secure the future success and compet- itiveness of the team. Nigel Northbridge, Sales and Marketing Director at Gallaher Limited, which owns Benson and Hedges across Europe, said: ``We have considered Formula One sponsorship in the past but neither the timing nor the opportunity has been right. This partnership with Jordan Grand Prix has all the ingredients for success and we are looking forward to an exciting relationship.'' The Benson and Hedges Jordan team were consistently amongst the front runners at pre-season tests in Portugal and are looking forward to their most successful season yet. The cars are having a final `shakedown' run at Silverstone today (February 29) before leaving the UK tomorrow en-route to Melbourne and the opening race of the 1996 FIA Formula One world Championship.
