Eponymous team principal Eddie Jordan has said that teams such as his own cannot spend money that isn't there and Jordan aim to get tougher, including making redundancies if necessary. Since the demise of Prost earlier this year there have been many discussions on the topic of saving money and making changes -- BAR principal David Richards recently had a team shake up, around fifty staff being discarded, and Jordan is ready to follow suit.

"I think we will have to get meaner, in many aspects of how we go about it," he said. "Inevitably things will change, the entrepreneurial teams like myself can no longer go on spending money that isn't there. I will make sure that the team becomes much tighter, more committed, harder. If it means having to make redundancies, I will make those redundancies because nobody can ever be as great as the team."

"The sponsors, staff and fans deserve Jordan to make the decisions, maybe very hard, maybe very tough, right at this moment that will procure the long term survival and greatness of Jordan to come back and win races again. Inside there is somebody really hurting and something really eating me. I need to perform, not just for myself and my family, but for everybody associated with Jordan and the dream that was and still is burning so bright inside me."

Meanwhile, Jordan engine supplier Honda confess to having a rethink of their Formula One commitments. Honda motorsport boss Takeo Fukui said they are disappointed with results so far this year: "We are contracted to Jordan for three years from when we signed with them last year, but of course, we are reviewing this every year and I cannot deny that we are having to rethink the whole situation," he said. "I am awfully disappointed that we've not been able to provide any positive news for the past three races and feel we seriously have to rehash our operation and use this Imola race as our turning point."
