Kimi Raikkonen has always been renowned for his blunt, no-nonsense demeanour, famously earning the nickname 'The Iceman'. Now, the 2007 Formula 1 champion has gone viral on social media with his two-word response to a post shared by the official F1 account.
Earlier this week, the official F1 Instagram account shared a throwback clip from the dramatic 2008 Canadian Grand Prix. The video showed the infamous moment at the pitlane exit during a tense safety car period. Raikkonen had brought his Ferrari to a stop alongside the BMW Sauber of Robert Kubica as they waited to rejoin the race.
Moments later, Lewis Hamilton failed to spot the stationary cars and the red light at the end of the pitlane, crashing into the back of the Finnish driver's Ferrari, ending both of their races.
As the two drivers walked away from the wrecked cars, Raikkonen pointed out the red light to the then-McLaren driver.
F1 captioned the video, "Who remembers this pit lane crash?" At the time of writing, the post has been viewed 4 million times and has received 109,000 likes.
Raikkonen has the top comment. "I do," he wrote. The 46-year-old's two-word response has received over 19,000 likes at the time of writing.
Fans were quick to praise the comment from the former driver. "You gotta love Kimi," one fan wrote on Reddit, while another added: "The original one and only Kimi. I miss him."
"Too many words Kimi, you're gonna overwhelm us!" added another fan, and someone else posted: "I loved his reaction to it. The other drivers would've started handbags with Hamilton after being rear-ended in the pitlane. But cool customer Kimi taps Hamilton's shoulder, points to the red light at the pit lane exit to make sure that he sees it and then walks away."
