McLaren star Lando Norris has reflected enthusiastically after Formula 1 drivers were treated to a private viewing of the F1 movie ahead of the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix. With his trademark humour on display, the Papaya driver discussed the film and his own cameo appearance.

"I was brilliant in it and that was the main thing!" he joked in front of Motorsport.com and other media on the Thursday before giving his genuine reaction to the Brad Pitt-led movie.

"It was a very good movie, a nice storyline – I don't know how much I can and can't say! It was a cool story, I think an inspirational story – it had a lot of different meanings behind it all. But a cool storyline and a lot of inspiration for young people coming into it."

The movie, shot within the real world of F1, will see cameos from a number of drivers after Pitt and co-star Damson Idris filmed alongside the teams during Grand Prix weekends. With their fictional team, APXGP, given its own place in the pits and paddock, the movie will boast real footage captured during actual F1 race weekends.

Talking previously on This Morning, Norris teased his part in the production.

“I think I’m in bits of it – I’m definitely not Hollywood," he joked.

“I definitely want to stay out of Hollywood, I just like driving my car and going home in a way, but it’s amazing to work alongside some of the guys last year, to be behind the scenes and see the cameras and all of this.

“It’s nice to be a part of it, but I’m also excited to see what a Formula 1 movie is and what it’s going to be about, and seeing how it’s all got made over the last few years has been pretty special.

“So, yeah, been nice to be part of it – I’m definitely not an actor, definitely never will be, but I’ll always play those little scenes in the background, and you might see me here or there.”

The private screening took place on the Wednesday leading up to the race, with Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll being the only drivers who missed the event.

With the movie representing three years of groundbreaking work and an unmatched level of collaboration with F1, it promises to be a spectacle when it's released globally on 25 June. The United States and Canada will see it released two days later.
