Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has shared an update on his Mission 44 foundation, revealing that the charity has reached over 500,000 young people in the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil.

The British driver founded Mission 44 in 2021 with the aim of increasing diversity and inclusion in motorsport.

"Hi everyone, I just wanted to update you on where we're at with Mission 44. Setting up Mission 44 has been one of my proudest achievements, honestly. We're working hard to drive change and create a fairer, more inclusive future for kids around the world," Hamilton shared in an update posted on the Mission 44 social media channels.

"So far, we've reached over half a million young people across the UK, US and Brazil and it's been a real privilege to meet and host many of them at grand prix events.

"Meeting our incredible motorsport scholars at Silverstone this year was a real highlight and I'm really proud of the scholarship. It's great to see that the students secure jobs in F1, so we're seeing real progress. Thank you to everyone for the amazing work and being a part of this mission. There's much more to come. So stay tuned. Take care."

Mission 44 formed a partnership with F1 in 2024 to support the charity in raising awareness of its work and to help form apprenticeships for young people from underrepresented groups.

"Over the last few years, it has been a pleasure to support Mission 44 in its efforts to make our sport more diverse and give students and young people their first taste of the world of F1 and motorsport," F1 head of environment, social and governance Ellen Jones said at the time.

"We look forward to working with Mission 44 in this new capacity and seeing how many doors we can open together to inspire the next generation."
