Ferrari's long-time former chairman Luca di Montezemolo has spoken about how a new feature documentary has captured the life he "lived at full speed".
The film, titled Luca: Seeing Red, charts the highs and lows of the Prancing Horse brand as it battled through its place in racing. Directed, produced and written by Manish Pandey, the writer of Senna, and co-directed by Christopher M. Armstrong, the documentary follows motoring journalist Chris Harris as he explores Italy's storied company. Fremantle is managing distribution, including its release at MIPCOM in Cannes.
In a number of interviews, Harris traces the rise of Montezemolo from working under Enzo Ferrari himself, to putting together the Formula 1 team's most successful stints with Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher.
“I’ve lived my life at full speed and this film captures that spirit, set against the stunning backdrop of Italy’s timeless beauty,” said Montezemolo in an interview with Variety. “A story of passion, resilience and the pursuit of excellence, values that define Ferrari and, I hope, inspire others.”
He added: “From the highs of world championships to the challenges that tested me, Seeing Red reflects not just my journey, but the incredible people and moments that shaped it.
"I’m proud to share this story with the world and I’m delighted that Fremantle, with its global reach and reputation for premium storytelling, will bring it to audiences everywhere.”

Mark Reynolds, global head of documentaries and factual at Fremantle, called the documentary a show of "innovation, leadership and legacy - themes that resonate with audiences everywhere." He added: “Luca’s inspiring journey transcends the world of racing: from the passionate heart of Ferrari to the broader cultural moments that shaped modern motorsports.
"Combining artistry, authenticity and global appeal, this character-driven film reflects Fremantle’s commitment to world-class storytelling.”
Pandey is excited for the production to resonate with audiences globally:
“We’re thrilled to partner with Fremantle to bring Luca’s extraordinary story to audiences around the world. It’s a story about passion, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of excellence – values that define Ferrari and continue to inspire millions. Luca: Seeing Red is a visually stunning and deeply emotional journey through one of the most iconic brands in history.”
