Mansell to race in final three GPs

ICN (1994-08-30): Former World Champion Nigel Mansell will drive for the Rothmans Williams Renault team at the final three grands prix of the FIA Formula One Championship. Forty one year old Mansell is the only driver to win the Formula One World Championship and the American based PPG IndyCar World Series in successive seasons and made a guest appearance in the Williams team at the French Grand Prix at Magny- Cours in July.

Mansell will compete at the European Grand Prix at Jerez in Spain on 16 October, the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka on 6 November and the Australian Gnand Prix at Adelaide on 13 November.

Last season he won the IndyCar Championship, driving a Lola Ford in the Newman Haas team just a year after winning the 1992 Formula One World Championship for the Williams team.

Mansell will join fellow British driver Damon Hill in the team for those last three races.

Frank Williams, Managing Director of Williams Grand Prix Engineering, is pleased to welcome back Mansell who won 27 grands prix and a World title during his six years with the team.

Mansell will not return to IndyCar racing next season and is considering a number of offers to return to Formula One racing next year. His last race for the Newman Haas team will be on 9 October at Laguna Seca in California.
