McLaren concludes Paul Ricard test

McLaren concluded a three-day test at the Paul Ricard circuit in France yesterday, with drivers Kimi Raikkonen, David Coulthard and tester Alex Wurz all present.

Raikkonen and Coulthard commenced the test on Tuesday, with Raikkonen quickest of the two, the Finn working on tyres and Coulthard running distance times. Wurz joined them on Wednesday and all three tested Michelin tyres, Raikkonen again fastest.

Yesterday Wurz continued with tyres while Raikkonen and Coulthard concentrated on distance work. They racked up 233 laps between them and Coulthard was the quickest of the McLaren's -- Toyota, who was also at Paul Ricard for the three-day test, set the fastest time with test driver Ricardo Zonta.

With the new MP4-18 not due to debut until perhaps Imola, it's not known if McLaren will have an official launch. The reworked version of last year's chassis currently in use is the MP4-17D, specifications as follows:

Chassis: McLaren moulded carbon fibre/aluminium honeycomb composite incorporating front and side impact structures. Contains integral safety fuel cell
Front Suspension: Inboard torsion bar/damper system operated by pushrod and bell crank with a double wishbone arrangement
Rear Suspension: Inboard torsion bar/damper system operated by pushrod and bell crank with a double wishbone arrangement
Electronics: TAG Electronic Systems control units incorporating electronics for chassis engine and data acquisition. TAG Electronic Systems also supplies the electronic dash board, ignition coils, alternator voltage control, sensors, data analysis and telemetry systems
Bodywork: Construction: One-piece sidepod and engine cover. Separate floor section, structural nose with integral front wing
Dampers: Penske/McLaren
Tyres: Michelin
Race Wheels: Enkei
Fuel: Mobil Unleaded
Lubricants: Mobil 1 products
