West McLaren Mercedes have completed their testing programme at the Jerez circuit in Spain with Kimi Raikkonen and Pedro de la Rosa driving the MP4-20s.
The programme for the two-day test was focused on preparing for the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend. Both Kimi and Pedro worked on tyre testing with Michelin and durability runs. In addition various set-ups were evaluated as well as aerodynamic developments.
Pedro's time of 1m15.650 puts him fastest overall and he completed 130 laps today. During the two days Pedro did a total of 269 laps or 1192 km with one engine. Kimi completed a total of 70 laps today and finished second overall with a time of 1m16.467.
The week following the Spanish Grand Prix, the West McLaren Mercedes team is scheduled to test at Paul Ricard in France from 11th-13th May.
Kimi Raikkonen:
"We have had two productive days in Jerez preparing for the Spanish Grand Prix. We have been testing a number of developments in respect of aerodynamics and set-ups and it will be interesting to see how they work in a race weekend situation."
Pedro de la Rosa:
"Our main focus for the past two days has been preparations and evaluations for the Grand Prix in my home country the weekend after next. We have done a lot of work considering we were only running two days when I did almost 1200 km and experienced no major problem."
