The Team McLaren Mercedes team began a three day test at the Paul Ricard circuit in France today, with Alex Wurz and Pedro de la Rosa both piloting MP4-20s.
The focus of today's programme was on Michelin tyre testing for the forthcoming San Marino Grand Prix. Both drivers were working on similar programmes completing a number of short and long runs throughout the day.
Pedro was the fastest man on track today, completing 163 laps, with a fastest time of 1m03.481s. Alex ended up eighth with a time of 1m04.338s.
Alex Wurz:
"Today was my second test in MP4-20 and I am still familiarising myself with the car. This is something the team and I will continue to work on over the next couple of days."
Pedro de la Rosa:
"Today was a trouble free day and I completed over twice a grand prix distance which myself and the team were particularly pleased with."
Alex and Pedro will continue at the circuit tomorrow.
