CANADIAN GRAND PRIX - Montreal, 7th June 1998 THE RACE SHINJI NAKANO Chassis 04 7th time: 1:41:27,937 "Montreal is a really good track for me! I was ready to get the same final result as last year when I finished 6th. I even held this position for a while, today. The team did a great job during the pit stop, which helped me not to loose any precious time. On the last 6 laps I did my best to overtake Magnussen and I nearly closed the gap. I saw he was loosing a lot of oil and I thought he might stop. Jan made no mistakes, he was quicker in a straight line, so it was impossible for me to pass him." ESTEBAN TUERO Chassis 03 stopped on 53th lap "It was no easy race. My first start - which was cancelled by the red flag - was quite good but on the second start I lost some positions. I immediately got a good pace and for a while I was even able to keep Wurtz behind me. I was forced into an unplanned pit-stop when Villeneuve, coming back onto the track after touching Fisichella, came across me and broke my front wing. With a little more luck I could have finished the race in 9th position." GIAN CARLO MINARDI - " We are extremely satisfied with our drivers, especially with Nakano. It is a pity for Tuero who was involved in an accident by Villeneuve (if it had been Esteban's responsibility, he would definitely get a penalty) and who was forced to stop 10 laps before the end of the race by an electrical problem, as shown by our telemetry system. Esteban's times were very good. This race is really positive for us and proves once more that our development program is on the right path and that the team is still growing up." TREVOR KNOWLES - (Ford Cosworth) Support engineer: " In today's race everything was fine with the engines, better than expected. Fuel consumption was even lower than forecast." Montreal, 7th June 1998
