'No real dramas' despite minor incidents for Webber and Klien

After a three week break during which all testing has been prohibited, F1 returned with the first practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring near Budapest. Jaguar Racing ran their three cars for Mark Webber, Christian Klien and test driver Bjorn Wirdheim.

Webber was due to run only a restricted number of laps near the end of the session but the programme was not completed on his car as a heat shield was found to be fouling an exhaust. Sorting this cost the crew the remainder of the session and Webber didn't do a complete timed lap.

"It's not a major drama," said Webber, "because it just means we can finish off what we were trying to do five minutes into the next session."

Wirdheim completed his full 23 lap programme that encompassed evaluating aerodynamic/cooling options, electronic developments and some tyre work. There were no problems and he recorded 13th best time of the session.

Klien completed 10 laps working on set up and tyre evaluation but spun near the end of the session and became beached in the turn nine gravel trap. "It appears from the data as if he just braked too late," said Dr Mark Gillan. "There doesn't appear to be any damage to the car."
