Tiago Monteiro: motivation multiplied tenfold for Brazilian GP

Tiago Monteiro finished his European season in strong form by securing a point on one of the most technical circuits of the season, Spa-Francorchamps. His 8th place multiplied the motivation of his team, Jordan Toyota, tenfold, and the Portuguese driver is now preparing for another strong race, this time in the suburbs by S?o Paulo in Brazil this coming weekend.

"We expected to show our potential at Spa-Francorchamps, especially as the track does not favour the most powerful cars. I would like to see the same thing apply in Brazil, and I hope that I will have the opportunity to beat several other drivers, as I did in Spa, but it will all depend on the weather and of the chances of rain," explained Tiago, who will be able to count on the support of many fans in Brazil, as he has Brazilian blood flowing through his veins.

Brazilian television and media continue to follow the Jordan driver's progress and will do at Interlagos as well. TV Globo awarded him the 2nd highest score in the Belgian GP with an average of 8.9, only race winner Kimi Raikkonen scored higher!

Tiago has already had the opportunity to try his hand at the Interlagos circuit: three years ago when he took part in the F3000 championship, he qualified 15th on the grid but quickly caught up to the leaders. On a difficult track, he expects a tough but exciting weekend in Formula One.

"I think that it is the most difficult circuit of the season, from the fact that it has many challenges," warned Tiago. "Firstly it is not easy to find the perfect set up, and for the drivers, being that it runs in reverse direction makes it a hard test, physically."

"I am nevertheless ready physically and mentally and I will seize the smallest opportunity that may come my way to secure another good result for the team. It is necessary that I remain concentrated for the final three races and worry only about my work on the track in order to finish the year the best I can."
