Sixth former Mucke Motorsport driver makes move to the top class - Mexican Sergio Perez 2011 Formula 1 pilot for Swiss team Sauber
Berlin (rol/jm) More good news were had for Berlin team Mucke Motorsport at the beginning of this week. With Mexican Sergio Perez, currently ranking second in the GP2 series with two races left to go this season, is the sixth driver from the German capitol's racing team who made the jump into the motorsports top class. The 20 year old, engaged as Formula 1 driver for 2011 by the Swiss team Sauber, was at the start of the Formula BMW Germany for Mucke Motorsport four years ago and had achieved a very good result in sixth overall place.
"2006 was a very successful year for us in the Formula BMW with Sergio. It was clear then already, that Sergio had the potential to reach the highest classes of motorsport", said Peter Mucke. "And of course we are all delighted that Sergio will be at the Formula 1 start next year. He makes our entire team proud", stresses the owner of Germany's largest privately owned racing team, taking part in the GP3 series, the German Touring Car Masters (DTM), the Formula 3 Euro Series, the Formula BMW Europe as well as the ADAC Formula Masters.
Ahead of Perez, five other pilots had made it into the Formula 1 after extensive training by Mucke Motorsport: Sebastian Vettel (Heppenheim), Robert Kubica (Poland), Sebastien Buemi (Switzerland), Christian Klien (Austria) and Markus Winkelhock (Berglen-Steinach). "They shared some of their journey with us and celebrated great successes while they were here. We prepared our drivers thoroughly and properly, with visible success", so the racing team owner. "Our team grew naturally over the years and is now a fantastic working unit like a well oiled machine. We can offer our drivers the complete programme, from the very start into motorsports all the way through to the top class, can guide them up the entire career ladder", said Peter Mucke, who founded his racing team in 1998 - with his son Stefan as driver. Stefan is now driver for Aston Martin in the GT1 World Championship after winning the Le Mans Series (LMS) title for sports cars prototypes last year.
