Red Bull Racing's 2005 challenger, the RB1, debuted at Jerez on February 7th, sporting a much darker livery than the silver and blue as used on the interim car. The new chassis features a sculpted front wing that curves down under the nose cone and the compact rear end that has become familiar on new cars, due to the regulation changes.

After today's private test Red Bull will be at work with other teams at Jerez from Wednesday, with David Coulthard, Christian Klien and Vitantonio Liuzzi on duty. Coulthard, who was behind the wheel for the initial shakedown, is not expecting miracles from Red Bull but is confident that the team will be competitive in the future.
"To expect them to win a grand prix is a pipe dream at this moment in time," he told Autosport. "But there is absolutely no reason why, with a clear strategy of investment, attracting the right people and having the right facilities, at some point in the future they cannot be competitive and racing for podiums."
"It is the same way that for several seasons people did not take BAR seriously and suddenly they appeared as one of the strongest teams and finished second in the constructors' championship. Whether I will still be competing when that moment comes is a different matter but what I can do is play my part in building the foundations."
Red Bull has yet to decide which of Klien and Liuzzi will line up on the grid alongside Coulthard for the first race. Sporting director Christian Horner said recently that a decision probably wouldn't be made until shortly before Melbourne. The official presentation of the RB1 will take place at Melbourne on March 3rd.
