Wendlinger could drive for Sauber Austrian Karl Wendlinger looks likely to join Heinz-Harald Frentzen in the Sauber Ford line-up for this season. Wendlinger suffered serious head injuries when he crashed during practice for the Monaco Grand Prix last year and he has not driven in a grand prix since then. He was due to start a pre-season training programme with Frentzen this week.
Flavio Briatore recovering following op. Flavio Briatore, Managing Director of the Benetton Formula One team, had an operation for a slipped disc in Paris this week. The operation was a success and Briatore is making a full and speedy recovery.
Jean Alesi Pleased with new V12 Ferrari Frenchman Jean Alesi completed an impressive three day test session at Fiorano in Italy. He was very pleased with the power and smoothness of the new V12 three-litre Ferrari engine and set a fastest lap of 1:02.30 seconds. That compared favourably with the lap time of 1:02.38 seconds set by Nicola Larini driving a three and a half litre 412T1B Ferrari.
Miko Salo Favourite for Tyrrell Drive Finnish driver Mika Salo is favourite to join the Tyrrell Yamaha team. At the end of last season he drove for Lotus.
