F1 Teams started their first day at the Paul Ricard HTTT: Renault F1 (Heikki Kovalainen), McLaren Mercedes (Pedro de La Rosa / Gary Paffett), BMW Sauber (Jacques Villeneuve / Robert Kubica) and Panasonic Toyota Racing (Ricardo Zonta / Olivier Panis), present during the last tests in March, have been joined by Team Red Bull Racing and its test driver Robert Doornbos, for a new 3-day test session.

The cars took the usual 3E SC track solution (3,818 km) with a seasonal temperature (20°C air temperature and 33°C on the track this afternoon). The best lap was set by Finnish driver Heikki Kovalainen (Renault F1) in 1:04.927, who drove with two cars to prepare for the arrival of Giancarlo Fisichella tomorrow. Pole Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber) completed the greatest number of laps (149).
