Nelson Piquet has emerged as a candidate for a 2010 race seat with the new Spanish F1 team Campos, according to the Marca sports newspaper.
With news that the Brazilian driver has lined up a forthcoming NASCAR truck test, 23-year-old Piquet was quoted in the media as insisting that his focus remains on resurrecting his tattered F1 career.
"I want to clear up this business rapidly so it doesn't stay with me for the rest of my life," he said in an interview with Brazil's Globo TV.
Marca reports that Piquet's route back into F1 could be with the aid of his famous and wealthy father, who could become an investor of Adrian Campos' new entry that is set to debut next March.
Asked about his next step in the wake of the crash-gate scandal, Piquet Jr answered: "I need a decent team, a decent engineer. A team that believes in me.
"I don't know which one it will be but I do know I will go back to racing," said Piquet.
