Prodromou to join Red Bull

Red Bull has not only already acquired McLaren's technical director/designer Adrian Newey, but has now also secured the services of chief aerodynamicist Peter Prodromou. Prodromou is expected to join Red Bull when he is free from his McLaren obligations.

"It has been agreed by Red Bull Racing and Peter Prodromou that Peter would join the team as chief aerodynamicist later this year when his contract expires with McLaren-Mercedes," said a statement.

Prodromou, who is largely responsible for the design of the new MP4-21, will continue with McLaren through the 2006 season. "Peter has been an integral part of the aerodynamics department for more than a decade," said a McLaren spokesperson, according to Reuters.

"Peter continues to enjoy his role at McLaren and both parties have agreed that he will continue in his role throughout '06 and be involved in the preparations for '07. We are well aware that in the long term, Peter may develop his career elsewhere."

Newey took up his role as Red Bull's chief technical officer earlier this month after eight years with McLaren. It's also been rumoured that vehicle project director Nicolas Tombazis may leave McLaren and head back to Ferrari, but so far it's only speculation.
