Magny-Cours, April 3rd - 5th 2001
The Prost Acer team finished today a three-day test session at the Magny-Cours circuit in France, On Tuesday, Gaston Mazzacane drove in changeable weather conditions, completing 48 laps and setting a best time of 1'17'7. Jean Alesi ran on Wednesday and Thursday, mainly on a wet track as the conditions continued to be very unstable. He completed 95 laps over the two days with a best time of 1'17''006, Throughout the three-day session the team concentrated on running the new electronic system which will be introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix,. It also worked on a tyre development programme for wet conditions, which gave very interesting results. Both drivers ran in race configuration with high fuel loads throughout the session. Joan Villadelprat, Prost Grand Prix Managing Director, said : " Despite the changing track conditions, it was a productive test. It confirmed the reliability of the car and gave us a chance to run a considerable amount of miles testing some new mechanical development components which will be introduced in the upcoming races."
