Guyancourt, January 10th 2001 - Prost Grand Prix is pleased to announce that Argentinian Gaston Mazzacane will be joining Jean Alesi as the team's official driver in the 2001 Championship. 25 year-old Mazzacane is at his second Formula 1 season.

"Gaston has shown a lot of determination and motivation" said Prost Grand Prix's President Alain Prost, "and we are happy that he joins the team at a time we consider is a new start for Prost Grand Prix. He is in top physical condition and eager to prove himself. He will be a good match for Jean (Alesi) from whom he can learn a lot. I am confident that with the good technical package we have put in place, next season Gaston Mazzacane will be able to show everyone his real potential."

Jean Alesi joins Prost Grand Prix in welcoming Gaston Mazzacane as his teammate, as the team embarks on a challenging new season.
