Raikkonen thinks Ferrari slump a one-off

Kimi Raikkonen expects Ferrari to be more competitive in the upcoming races, as he feels its British Grand Prix slump was a one-off.

The Maranello squad struggled for pace all weekend, and could not get close to Mercedes or match Red Bull's pace.

Both Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel had a difficult race, with the Finn coming home in fifth while the German finished down in ninth.

But Raikkonen reckons the nature of the circuit and the wet-then-dry conditions made things harder for Ferrari, and he believes things will go back to normal in the next race.

"All weekend it has been difficult," said Raikkonen. "I think it was as good as we can get it. We are simply missing downforce and on a place like this with these conditions it's not easy.

"We need downforce here to go fast, and especially with the mixed conditions and the wind you take a bit penalty. But that's how it was.

"I'm sure in the next races will be much more normal for us."

He admitted, however, Ferrari's main problem is a lack of downforce.

"Obviously downforce would help any place, it doesn't matter where we go. It's definitely what we need to challenge at every kind of circuit.

"There's other areas that have to improve, but I'm sure if we had the downforce like a few cars in front of us it would be a completely different story.

"Every area can be improved but I think right now in this kind of conditions and circuit it's the biggest issue."
