Any new team faces a tough job when getting started in F1 and although Red Bull took over an existing squad, sporting director Christian Horner is expecting a lot of hard work in 2005. However, the team wants to have some fun as well and put a bit of life back into what Horner sees as a stale state of affairs in the sport.

"Formula One at the moment is boring," Horner told Reuters. "There are some great personalities in the sport and in our team and what we'll be looking to win over is a fan base that have been fairly depressed probably in the last couple of years."
"We're going to work hard and we'll hopefully have a bit of fun along the way. Red Bull's objectives are different to a car manufacturers'," he added. "There will be a different philosophy and a different approach that will start in Melbourne."
Many have lamented the lack of characters in the sport of late and Horner isn't adverse to his drivers expressing themselves, such as David Coutlhard did to Michael Schumacher in the 2000 French GP. "We need more personalities. If David gives Michael the finger, I won't be complaining," he remarked.
Horner thinks a certain sector of the fans is looking for a team they can relate to and he believes Red Bull can give them what they want. "I think a real hole in the market exists for a team that can relate to Joe Public," he said. "I think what you'll see with Red Bull, certainly during this year, is that they'll be looking to appeal to the man in the stand."
A decision from the team in regard to whether Christian Klien or Vitantonio Liuzzi will line up on the grid with Coulthard in Melbourne is expected in the near future. Both youngsters have been testing at Barcelona this week, along with the Scot, and with the start of the 2005 season just a couple of weeks away, one will have to be nominated soon.
