Red Bull Racing confirmed on December 6th that Christian Klien will be teammate to David Coulthard for the squad in 2006. The 22 year-old Austrian completes the line up along with test driver Robert Doornbos. Klien joined Jaguar in 2004 for his rookie season and competed for Red Bull in 2005 when the energy drink manufacturer took over the team.

"It's great that I'm going to be driving for Red Bull Racing again in 2006," said Klien. "Next year is really only the start for this team, I think it's got a great future ahead of it and to be able to be part of that is really exciting. I'm definitely looking to improve next year and get more points.

"It's good to continue working with David as well, I'm still a young driver and can learn a lot from him, although like every racing driver, I'm keen to beat my team-mate on the track."

Scuderia Toro Rosso also confirmed that Tonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed will line up for the Italian team next year and Swiss Neel Jani will be test driver. With an average age of 23, the Toro Rosso boys will be the youngest outfit on the 2006 grid.

The 2006 line up is now just about finalized with Red Bull and Toro Rosso's confirmation of drivers. New number one Renault will field youngest ever champion Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, with test and third driver Heikki Kovalainen.

McLaren remains the same with Kimi Raikkonen and Juan Pablo Montoya, while Ferrari swaps one Brazilian for another, Felipe Massa replacing Rubens Barrichello next to Michael Schumacher. Toyota holds steady with Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher.

Williams has the relatively old hand of Mark Webber and the new blood of Nico Rosberg. A test driver has yet to be confirmed but Narain Karthikeyan will test for the team this week at Jerez. WTCC champ Andy Priaulx also tested for Williams recently.

Rubens Barrichello joins Honda alongside Jenson Button, test driver as yet unknown, while Jacques Villeneuve has been confirmed as teammate to Nick Heidfeld at BMW Sauber. Again, test driver unknown. MF1 Racing has yet to confirm Tiago Monteiro as teammate to Christijan Albers, but the FIA 2006 entry list has Monteiro on board with MF1.

The proposed new team, Super Aguri, was refused entry to the 2006 championship by the FIA but intends to re-apply.
