Renault Jerez test summary 2004-10-12/14

The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team completed the final test of the 2004 season at Jerez this week, with test driver Franck Montagny running a full three-day programme. He was joined on successive days by Renault Driver Development member Heikki Kovalainen, and the team's two race drivers Jacques Villeneuve and Fernando Alonso.

Chassis Development
Day 1: Montagny conducted a set-up programme focus primarily on ride quality during the morning, while Kovalainen completed an electronics development programme for 2005.

Day 2: Montagny ran in a simulated 2005 aero configuration for much of the day, while Villeneuve conducted general set-up work aimed at the Brazilian Grand Prix. However, the Canadian's running was curtailed by gearbox problems in the afternoon.

Day 3: Montagny focused on set-up work and software development, while Alonso evaluated suspension developments scheduled for introduction at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Tyre Development
During the three days, Montagny conducted both tyre comparisons for the Brazilian Grand Prix and long-term tyre development, while Alonso and Villeneuve both ran the planned tyre compounds for the final race of the season.

Other information
The team reached the milestone of 40,000 km of testing in 2004 during running on the second day.
