Ricciardo looking towards Barcelona after long day for Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo ended the day with a mere 48 laps under his belt and the seventh of eight fastest time on the day, but said there were a few positives to take from today’s running.

“I don’t know about the pace. It’s still hard with fuel loads and everything. I think (seeing) some consistency and putting a few laps together was not too bad in the end,” said Ricciardo. 

“We did the engine change earlier in the day, which took some time away from us. This afternoon I got a bit more done. I was happy to do 10-15 lap runs, thats where you get a bit more understanding. We took some things away from today.”

Today marked the Australian pilot's final day behind the wheel of the Red Bull RB11. Despite one more day of running for the team to build consistency and speed into their new car, Riccardo is looking forward to the next test in Barcelona.

“We have got one more day tomorrow with Daniil and then another eight in Barcelona,” said Ricciardo. 

“It’s always trick to rack up a lot of laps at the first test. Obviously some teams have done it, but we have a few more opportunities.”

If I was to guess, the times say yesterday Seb (Vettel) was quick.

Most everyone in the paddock is quite sure that the reliability that Mercedes has demonstrated will quickly turn into more speed, giving them the early edge for 2015. Ricciardo thinks Ferrari is the best of the rest.

“If I was to guess, the times say yesterday Seb (Vettel) was quick. I don’t know what fuel or tires, but in any case it was a good time,” he said. 

“Ferrari look to be OK for now, as for the rest it’s still early. Maybe in Barcelona we will know a little bit more if people start using the soft tire of everyone uses the same tire we will understand a bit more.”
