Rosberg says Halo postponement "disappointing"

Nico Rosberg has described the F1 Strategy Group's decision to postpone the introduction of the Halo to 2018 as "disappointing."

Most drivers have expressed their support for the device, especially after last week's FIA presentation in Hungary addressed a few doubts.

"It's all ready to go, it just needs to be put on the car," said Rosberg.

"A large majority of the drivers wanted to get it on the car as soon as possible, it just made sense as it's such a huge step in safety, so it's disappointing to hear that it's not going to be on the car for next year."

His Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton was ambivalent about the postponement.

"If it's there it's there, if it's not it's not, it makes no difference to me," said Hamilton.

"As we mentioned last week it is a safer option, but I've not driven with it, and other drivers have said that it's kind of claustrophobic feeling, it's kind of in the view when you're driving.

"I think what they are going to do is they are are going to try and work on improvements for the future.

"But we can't ignore the fact that that is a growing solution which will be safer for us, which I don't think they will."

Red Bull Daniel Ricciardo said he understood why it had been put on hold.

"One thing we were leaning towards was that if there wasn't the perfect solution, then let's wait and get something proper rather than do it half-heartedly," said the Australian.

"So I think that is the reason for now why it is going to be postponed.

"Sure if it is on the car we want it to work in the right way, I understand and I know it is new to F1, so not easy to come up with something overnight – I will respect their decision."
