Sauber Barcelona test day two

Team SAUBER PETRONAS continued its three-day at the Circuit de Catalunya just outside Barcelona today. Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa again drove interim versions of the 2001 C20. Nick covered 54 laps and set the seventh fastest time with 1m 22.349s, with Felipe eighth with 35 laps and 1m 22.466s despite missing a lot of running in the afternoon.

Jacky Eeckelaert (Head of Vehicle Engineering): "Again the weather was a nuisance, with the track being wet for some time this morning and then further rain towards the end of the afternoon. That hurt our aerodynamic programme, but we did our tyre programme with Nick this afternoon. Felipe went well and I was impressed by his competitive times before his engine problem this morning, when he set the fastest time."

Nick Heidfeld: ""I had no problems today apart from the weather, which continued to disappoint us by preventing us from completing our programme. The track temperature was too cold this morning to conduct meaningful aero tests, and this afternoon our tyre programme took priority."

Felipe Massa: "This was the first time I drove here in dry conditions. I was very pleased to be the fastest driver out there as the track was drying. I did more laps than yesterday even though I had an engine problem that stopped me just before lunch, and the team did a fantastic job to get me out again before the afternoon session ended."
