Team SAUBER PETRONAS began a three-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya today. Felipe Massa drove today and will continue tomorrow, with Nick Heidfeld taking over on Friday. Fresh from scoring his first World Championship point in Malaysia, Felipe set the time of 1m 21.667s during the course of 41 laps.

Jacky Eeckelaert (Head of vehicle Engineering):

"Our programme today was based on aerodynamic work in readiness for the Brazilian GP at Interlagos next week, and we covered most of our intended work despite having to change the engine when it reached its 500 km limit."

Felipe Massa:

"It feels even better driving the car now that I have scored a championship point! I feel like I could have driven more laps in preparation for my home Grand Prix, but otherwise it's been a productive day. The conditions were good and we have covered a lot of ground."

Barcelona Circuit, Wednesday, 20 March 2002
Weather: Warm and dry.
Temperature: Track 34C Air 24C
Distance: 41 laps and 194 kms
