This week Shell was recognised with a special award for technical excellence and innovation by long-time technical partner, Ferrari.

Ferrari CEO Jean Todt presented Shell with the Ferrari Innovation Award at a ceremony in Maranello, Italy. The award recognises Shell's particularly high standards of excellence, technology, innovation and product development in its ongoing technical partnership with the famous Prancing Horse.

The Ferrari Innovation Award is one of just four accolades presented by Ferrari each year amongst more than 600 partners and suppliers. Selection of the winners involves an exhaustive process in which all Ferrari departments are consulted. To win, a partner must exceed Ferrari's exacting requirements.

Ferrari CEO Jean Todt said the award was presented to Shell for: "ongoing innovation in its own products which contributed to improving the performance of our Formula One and Gran Turismo cars."

Bruno Motta, Chairman, Shell Brands International, received the award on behalf of Shell: "Winning the Ferrari Innovation Award is confirmation of the ongoing success of our technical partnership. For over 60 years, Shell has been dedicated to innovation, with the sole purpose of developing technology that we can then transfer to our road products - like Shell V-Power fuel and Shell Helix motor oil."

Shell first partnered with Enzo Ferrari in the 1930s, so it was logical when it was chosen to supply fuel and lubricants to the company he founded in 1947. Today, Shell engineers form an integral part of the Scuderia Ferrari, analysing fuel and oil samples in a dedicated Track Lab at races, while providing Formula One and Ferrari Gran Turismo road car support in Maranello and at Shell facilities globally. The partnership has taken 11 Drivers' and eight Constructors' World Championship titles since it began.
