Styrian Grand Prix driver ratings

The Styrian GP was a weekend dominated by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, as others showed resurgence after key mistakes, while a couple of drivers were denied the chance to demonstrate their full potential. Here’s the driver ratings from the first race of the Red Bull Ring double-header which features two maximum scores

Max Verstappen – 10

Keeps the maximum despite not going quicker on his second run in Q3, which was a result of his tyres cooling as he ran slowly at the rear of the queue – his first lap blistering in any case. In the race he was just in complete control – fast and kind on his tyres and adapted to the brake pedal problem that struck twice without losing time.

Lewis Hamilton – 8

Not much he could have done given Verstappen's superior race pace in both stints, although he nearly dropped his car in the Turn 4 gravel as he pushed trying to match the Red Bull's pre-pitstop times. He's marked down for his qualifying defeat to Bottas, overdriving after jumping the queue at the end of Q3. Would be an 8.9 if we could have decimals.
