Once more this year it will be possible to walk the Pit lane at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve while the 11 teams will have their garage doors wide open and the personnel will be hard at work on the last minute details before hitting the track the next morning.
“This Montréal tradition is strong and very much represents what our Grand Prix is all about. Several other events elsewhere now adopted a similar concept and were proud to have been initiators in openness to the general public,” said François Dumontier, President and CEO of Octane Racing Group, promoter of the event. “We greatly appreciate the teams’ co-operation and of their personnel, and also the fact that representatives of our support races do also participate to our ‘Open House’. We thank them all.“
In addition to being able to have a look at the work of the Formula 1 teams, fans will also is able examine closely some of the cars involved in the support races program; such as the Formula 1600 single-seaters, the Porsche GT3 and the spectacular Ferraris from the ever exciting Ferrari Challenge. Of course, personal cameras are welcome.
Autograph session
As it has been the case for the last years, the F1 drivers will also be in attendance to meet their fans and give autographs. To really take advantage of their presence, we suggest that they purchase a copy of the Official souvenir program available on site Thursday and sold for $15. Clothing and other official souvenirs will also be available.
One single access: the Cosmos bridge from the Jean Drapeau metro station
To attend the ‘’Open House’’ day, one must take advantage of the collective transportation system, mainly the subway and its yellow line leading to the Jean Drapeau station on Island Sainte-Hélène. From there, a short walk on the Cosmos Bridge will take the fans to the loading station where busses will take the visitors to the pit lane area. Later, the same busses will bring them back to this location.
