The signs that point to F1's rude health

OPINION: Formula 1's calendar might still be facing disruption as the pandemic affects travel but, says Mark Gallagher, the business itself is fundamentally strong thanks to the epic rivalry taking place on track and the consistent arrival of new sponsors.

Amid the fallout over the first lap fracas at last weekend's British Grand Prix, it is worth pausing to reflect on the healthy state in which Formula 1 finds itself. COVID-induced calendar chaos aside, things are good.

We have two key protagonists, Red Bull and Mercedes, giving us the Hamilton-versus-Verstappen duel we’ve been looking forward to since forever – a Schumacher/Hakkinen battle with more closely matched cars and a needle we've not seen since the days of Senna and Prost.
