Panasonic Toyota Racing drivers Olivier Panis and Cristiano da Matta had a productive second day of running at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona today. Both drivers continued to acclimatise themselves to the team and to the car. Frenchman Panis was again in the interim TF102B car with next season's RVX-03 engine and seven-speed gearbox, whilst Brazilian Da Matta completed good mileage in the TF102.
Olivier Panis
"I continued to learn the team and the car today. We managed to improve the balance of the car and the overall lap time from yesterday's session with the priority on getting good reliability in the new engine and gearbox. We only had a gearbox problem right at the end of the session, but it has been a good day and we are heading in the right direction."
Cristiano da Matta
"Everything ran a lot better for me today. We were able to complete 73 laps of the track with no real problems. I had a little spin in the morning session when I ran a bit too deep, but it was nothing major. The overall feeling I have for the car is getting better all the time and my focus at the moment is to get as many kilometres under my belt as possible."
The final day of this week's Barcelona test takes place tomorrow, once again with Olivier in the TF102B and Cristiano in the TF102/04 chassis.
