Toyota has today finished a three-day test session at the Imola circuit. Allan McNish completed 136 laps of the Grand Prix circuit.
This was the first time that Toyota has tested outside of its home circuit of Paul Ricard in the south of France, and the first time on an official Grand Prix circuit. The team concentrated on data acquisition from the circuit and also focused on car set-up.
"Considering it was the first time we have driven on a GP circuit this Imola test was very positive and encouraging for us," said Team Chief Designer Gustav Brunner. "We are pleased with our current rate of progress."
Allan McNish commented, "The test was enjoyable and interesting. It was very important to try the car on another circuit. Conditions were different to those of a Grand Prix weekend, with less rubber down on the track, making lap times slightly slower. However, we were very encouraged and I am looking forward to Monza."
The weather remained sunny during the Toyota exclusive session, but there was some rain on Wednesday afternoon. The best daily lap times were:
Day 1: 5 June 1m 30.124s 43 laps completed Day 2: 6 June 1m 29.953s 25 laps completed Day 3: 7 June 1m 28.960s 68 laps completed
The next test session will take place 11-13 June in Monza.
