A shortened final day of testing for all teams at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza ended at lunchtime today with Panasonic Toyota Racing drivers, Allan McNish and Mika Salo, completing a total of 54 laps of the Italian track between them. Both drivers did some work on improving the general set-up of the TF102 for next week's Italian Grand Prix, but again a wet track hindered progress.
Allan McNish
"We have had to do a lot of last-minute race preparations today, again due to adverse weather conditions overnight leaving the track wet for most of today's reduced-length session. Generally the rain has been a decisive factor this week for everyone. Although we wanted to get more work done, we have still managed to find a reasonable car set-up."
Mika Salo
"Today we did a bit of preparation work for qualifying, as well as some Michelin tyre comparisons. We also continued on the aerodynamics work we have been doing all week. Overall the test has been quite positive but the wet weather has limited the time we have had to complete our programme. I hope it stays dry next weekend!"
There is only one week to go before both Mika and Allan take to the Monza circuit once more. Free Practice for the Italian Grand Prix - round 15 of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship - begins at 11.00 CET on Friday 13 September.
