Two teams in action at Valencia

While the majority of the teams will start testing later this week in Bahrain, Williams and Spyker began their programmes at Valencia on Monday (February 19th). Of the five drivers at work on the Spanish track Williams test driver Kazuki Nakajima was quickest, 1:12.953, and racer Alex Wurz was second, less than a tenth behind.

Spyker had two of its testers present, Giedo van der Garde and Adrian Valles making their debuts in the new F8-VII, along with race driver Adrian Sutil. Van der Garde, who drove in the morning, was the fastest of the trio in third with Sutil fourth and Valles fifth after his afternoon stint.

"It was another productive day of testing and, again, we had exemplary reliability. Today the aim was to do as much mileage as possible for the two test drivers and to continue to work through all our control systems," said Spyker chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne.

"Both Adrian and Giedo did a good job, both putting in enough miles to qualify for their superlicences. They also helped the team gather some valuable data on the electrical systems. "Unfortunately Adrian's early morning running was limited due to a damp and slippery track, but I think both drivers did a very good job."

Fairuz Fauzy will be the third of Spyker's testers behind the wheel on Tuesday and Christijan Albers is also scheduled to join the test.
