COLLARD CONFIRMED AS TEST DRIVER

The Tyrrell team is delighted to announce that 24 year old Frenchman Emmanuel Collard has been nominated Tyrrell's test and reserve driver for the 1996 season. Emmanuel will help the Tyrrell Yamaha team with its testing programme and will be the team's first choice in the case of one of its current drivers, Mika Salo and Ukyo Katayama, being unable to attend a Grand Prix during the season.

Ken Tyrrell, Team Principal said: "I am delighted to welcome Emmanuel on board. It's a great pleasure to resume the traditional links between the team and the 'Elf drivers connection'. I was very impressed by Emmanuel when we tested him in Jerez in January 1995. Since that day, I always hoped he could join us one day. I am convinced Emmanuel is a star of the future and I am sure he will confirm his potential this year.

A delighted Emmanuel Collard commented: "I am very happy to join the Tyrrell Yamaha team as test and reserve driver. The 024 looks promising and I can't wait to start testing the car. The team has a strong technical department and my new role is a step forward for the future of my career in Formula 1."

Emmanuel Collard will start his testing duties at Silverstone in April after the Tyrrell Yamaha team return from Argentina.
