Villeneuve still hungry

Jacques Villeneuve is still hungry for success despite having, in his words, won everything there is to win. The 32 year-old Canadian hasn't had an easy time with BAR but he is determined to stay in Formula One in 2004, whether it be with his current team or another.

"I don't feel like I've got anything left to prove," he said. "I feel like I've won everything there is to win. What else is there to do?" He added that money was not the motivation. "I'm in this purely out of the enjoyment. I just like getting the most out of myself. But I'm still hungry."

BAR is considering starting next year with this season's chassis but Villeneuve would like to see an all new car: "I would prefer the second option," he said of the old car or new debate. "Each team will do it every year (start with an old car), but there is no way to police it, so there is nothing that can be done about it."

The BAR sometimes seems off the pace in qualifying but Villenueve tends to qualify with a heavier fuel load, preferring to aim for race results than grid position. "The temptation has always been there," he said of qualifying with lighter fuel. "But for me it is more important to do what is right to get as many points for the team as we can and that means concentrating on race strategy."

BAR boss David Richards recently said he is in talks with a few drivers, including Jacques, about next year but an announcement is not expected in the immediate future. Villeneuve said he will work really hard to be at the front again but added: "If the opportunity doesn't present itself, I'll stop."
