Webber's lift from Alonso hitches him penalty for Korea

Alonso gave a lift to Webber at the end of the Singapore Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver received a reprimand while Webber will lose grid positions at Korean Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso, Scuderia Ferrari and Mark Webber, Red Bull Racing

The FIA stewards for the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix have issued penalties after the race. The main one was the hitchhiking done by Red Bull's Mark Webber after he disobeyed the rules when he walled out on the track at the conclusion of the Grand Prix on the Marina Bay circuit.

The Formula One drivers know that they must have the permission from the marshals to walk out on the track after the checkered flag; especially during the cool down lap. It is considered unsafe for not only the driver whose car sits idle but also for the other racers still on the track. In this case, Red Bull's Mark Webber was handed a 10-place grid penalty for the Korean Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso was the driver who stopped to allow the Australian a ride back on the side pod of his Ferrari. He was handed a stern reprimand.

No doubt the stewards attention was drawn to the two Mercedes drivers as both Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton had to take action in order to not damage their cars nor the Ferrari by avoiding an accident.

When his car expired on the final lap, Webber had to wait for the ride that would come to give him a proper life; however Alonso stopped and the rest is now history.

They were not the only two to be cited by the stewards. One of the Lotus team members was not wearing the required helmet during one of Romain Grosjean's pit stops. The team also received a reprimand.
